MEO FUSCIUNI’s ODOR 93 (2015) IS A VERY SULTRY PERFUME

I have come to Isezakicho park to mull and pontificate. The air is grey and heavy : very hot.

The flowers are woozy.

Odor 93, Fusciuni’s masterfloral, is both scary and soothing. At its heart it is a tuberose – a lovely tuberose , but buried in spook and mulch in the vaguely sinister manner of Rochas Mystere. Or vintage Vol De Nuit extrait – there are distinct resonances to Jacques Guerlain’s inimitable classic here, with the pungent narcissus, vanilla, patchouli, a coquette of Guerlainish powder (both scents are. of similar high quality); but also bonfire -intriguing,modern and witchy (……heart-tugging) smirches of tobacco; cumin; guaiac, vetiver; sage.

The peculiar concoction comes on strong, heavy; weird – i haven’t worn it for a couple of years, but it suddenly seduced me this morning, beckoning me to towards it – then, in my view, morphs into one of the most haunting and ghostly modern perfumes ever made.

I am wearing the exquisitely clean and natural smelling Gardenia by Hawaiian FF on my left arm for a white floral reference counterpoint. In contrast – though they are working very nicely together – sometimes the sylvan assassin lurks somewhere in the space ahead of me; then immediately behind, taunting me from different angles in a tuberosial hide and seek; the flowers shadowing and stalking my presence, with a stark, medicinal sweetness

  1. I wore an entire bottle of Odor 93 after you turned me on to it. I have a new bottle in my cabinet, and like you, I haven’t worn it in a long time. It is so so much. And so very good. It is right up there with Ferre by Ferre as a sultry, gorgeous, heady, full bodied floral that takes some definite mood to wear. And off subject, I bought the Ferre after your review with a photo of the exquisite Monica Bellucci and that photo was the clincher. I will have to revisit Odor 93 soon, on a cooler day perhaps. I will of course, be thinking of you, when I do.

  2. If only the names of Meo Fusciuni perfumes gave some hint as to what the fragrances were! I didn’t have time to explore all of them in a store so I tried Little Song at random and think I may have fallen in love. Notes of coffee, rose, tobacco, vetiver, musk… but it’s the kind of love that can wait for the next encounter, something to look forward to (rather than obsessively scouring online). Odor 93 sounds like it may be playing a similar game but on the white floral register.

  3. Oh my.
Even being quite the white floral diva myself- 93 sounds a bit much.
Narcissus, patchouli, guiac, cumin- no, no, no.

Thank you for giving me the nod on Gardenia by Hawaiian FF. I’ve had it in my cart forever and it sounds definitely more my style.

Not quite sure what is meant with „Hawaiian FF“? Is it „Forever Florals Made in Hawaii“ in a somewhat lackluster bottle à la 1982? (BTW that brand also sells Coco Papaya and Passion Pineapple delights!) Then there’s „Hawai’i Flavor & Fragrance“, another FF. If it is the former, then it is cheap as chips: 9 US $! The latter seems to sell no fragrance at all despite its name?!
