I experienced a severe case of SRHG (Sudden Rapid Hair Growth) on the morning of Halloween and by evening had bleached and frizzed it into a nice Boy George meets Hanoi Rocks’ Michael Monroe.

It was a freezing rainstorm but it suited some Halloween cosiness. After some mulled wine – over Dario Argento soundtracks and some mariachi musica – perhaps a little too heavy on the cinnamon and cloves – it was almost mouth-numbing – we headed out getting soaked to the local bar one minute away.

A perfect bottle of vintage Poison had been sprayed on copiously before we entered the premises, the perfume by far the most frightening thing happening. It got passed round by everyone and multiple further spritzes were executed to the point of asphyxiation

Kunihiko – right – liked it best but then he always likes sweet heady perfumes – and the musky, purpled fleurs du mal – all plum and pimiento and vanillically addled tuberoses was a general hit – in many ways it is a work of genius, though in truth I am getting a little tired of it now as Burning Bush’s signature – maybe next time it will wear Shiseido’s Enchanting Rhinestone. What perfumes did you wear for Halloween ?

What a wild night! And a very cute hat. Your knee looks like it is doing well, which is such a huge relief.
Poison was my poison. That year it launched my generous boss gave me a bottle for Christmas. My sixth sense told me what it was so I unwrapped the package immediately and was horrified. I flew to the department store where it was exchanged – I think a Guerlain, not a Dior. Strangely I don’t think I would mind smelling Poison now, but back then it made me nauseous.
I wore Chant d’Aromes last night, my tradition for many years which I think I started because it seemed to be at one with nature, and just what a good pagan should wear!
I ADORE that perfume.Treasure my bottle.
The knee is swollen – as you can see probably looking at the tights – and icing it today – but some progress has been made.
Poison, yes – I was surprised how well it went down : it has aged impressively and I think you might appreciate the odd whiff on a passerby – if not an entire bar CHOKING on it
Ouch …. sorry your knee is paying you back today. Hope the icing brings it back down soon. So much healing still to do.
I remember in the old days that one could smell Poison drifting through the air like a miasma – almost see the purple fog trailing after the wearer as they walked down the street.
I treasured my Chant d’Aromes extrait for many years. Wish I still had it. Wish they still made it. Used to apply the edt lavishly, then dot the perfume on top.
Both gorgeous !
Your ensemble made me think zombie Peter Frampton. 😂
Ahh Poison, 1985 all over again.
I broke out Lolita Lempicka for fond memories of holidays past. Saccharine sweet but licoricely cozy. I recall when it launched in 1997, the Nordstrom cosmetics department was turned into a winter woodland with elves, snow tipped evergreens, and gingerbread houses. So enchanting.
Sigh. Remember the seemingly halcyon days of 1997? Oh the relatively carefree days of yore.
I had only just got here then so was not quite carefree but a bit more like a dazzled Alice in Wonderland.
Lempicka sounds perfect for the occasion
Perfect Screaming Queen!!
To attract or to repel? Maybe both?
I was not OUT due to intestinal rumbles.
But let me consider:
I think RRRRumba.by Balenciaga (?)Very heavy on the intake. Spiiicy, dusky flowery and tending to rule the roost in my immediate surroundings. My antipod to Opium, that I don’t wear and can’t bear. Pardon Yves et companie.
And maybe I will browse in the previous Black Narcissusses to discover and try a really daring and obnoxious perfume. Have a year to investigate. Meanwhile I saw Texas Chain Massacre for the first time. Not my cup of tea. Love the old 50ies black and white gloomieees.
Rumba !
My maternal grandmother had it in her own 50’s bathroom
What a worthy heritage!
It is one of the big entree’s! I always wear it with a vengeance. When I am in the theTre or at the concert I almost need the chairs next to me to be vacant.
!!
Wish to experience it in the flesh
Glad you all had fun for Halloween! I can’t quite tell what fruit your friend’s costume is, but it’s cute; I like it. I went to a black-and-white themed Halloween party the weekend before, so some of us wore outfits rather than costumes, but on the day itself I stayed home and for perfume wore Jacomo Silences. Then I realized that in the past I’d also considered Silences a deep winter perfume or a springtime perfume, so I guess it’s very versatile!
Wow Silences – what a beautiful selection for a cold day. Very self containing
Wow, what fantastic photos! Thanks for sharing. I had no idea I was even going out on Halloween, but friends arrived at my doorstep and insisted I had to go with them. So I grabbed a few bottles and started spraying without even looking at what I was spraying. However, I am thinking I still smelled very good as I was asked to dance by several men.
Tell us more! You don’t remember what any of them were?
No Halloween celebrations here. I spent the evening comforting Mr Jarvis Cockapoo from the inappropriate fireworks being let off. Poor sprout shivering, panting & drooling from the terror. Obviously I stayed scent free but the house smelt of Adaptil plug in of calming dog pheromones.
Oops forgot about Poison. Love the stuff. All that’s missing from my collection is Poison EdC. I need to search some out
Ooh I had also forgot about the existence of the edc
In the UK asking prices are humongous! It’s the only vintage iteration I’m missing.
Currently I’m also yearning for the Parfum that is now on the Dior website. Apparently it wears close but has all the bells & whistles played in the correct order. It’s cheaper than vintage EdC
