I guessed it was something like that (I would not have come up with those marvellous adjectives, however). How fabulous. I do love proper bar soap – I’ve purchased a couple of lovely ones in India. One is a beautifully wrapped Ayurvedic sugar and tamarind bar – I can’t wait to use it. Vintage perfume soap is another matter – I’ve never tried it, perhaps I should x
Ah, soap, soap…..how I love it. The Ayurvedic one sounds very intriguing indeed. I used to adore all the Crabtree & Evelyn ones as well. Lime. Avocado. Jojoba.
The glycerine C&E ones are/were lovely. Rose. Freesia. Even the Body Shop, back in the day. I used to buy the fruity ones with my pocket money. But getting the perfect balance between a soap that actually smells of something, that doesn’t go soggy or get horrific grey cracks in it after a while (ugh..) is an ongoing task. In your average Boots store, there are shelves and shelves dedicated to liquid soap, and only a couple of bars: Pears, Imperial Leather, Simple. Dove: The usual suspects. Very dull indeed.
Oh you dirty boy!!!
I have the same response to Shalimar shower gel.
Why?
Filthy animalic lactonic old musks cling to the skin afterwards.

Looking forward to an in-depth soap chat next August in Norwich. No irony intended, I love it.
Great x
