this is a photo i have just taken of a frozen car windscreen on the way back from the temple to welcome in the new year, but really i was thinking of the film we had just seen at the cinema, the flawed but magnificent ‘gravity’…..
we got back to kitakamakura in time to do ‘hatsumode’, to hear the priests tolling the bells and welcoming in 2014, and stood by the zen pond looking up at the bright, shimmering stars in the pitch black sky.
the contrast, from space on the big, silver screen, to watching that same vast sky from earth, was beautiful.
i wish you a beautiful 2014.

Happy New Year Neil. I wish you and Duncan all the best in 2014!
And to you too!
Hope to meet you in London in 2014. Happy New Year!
I would love it. I want to meet people in the flesh.
Happy New Year to you.
See you in March! 🙂
Happy new year, Neil!
You too. Look forward to meeting you !
Happy New Year!
And thanks for all the great writing x
Thanks. And happy new year to you too!
Dearest Ginza
Happy New Year!
Though it’s now getting on a little for you.
What an exquisite evening you seem to have had. Meanwhile I shall be donning wellies to climb Primrose Hill and view the whizbangs on the Thames from a distance.
Altogether much less Zen.
To a wonderful 2014 dearheart.
Yours ever
The Perfumed Dandy
As you will realize, I am utterly not zen myself, but I do like dipping a toe into its atmosphere once in a while.
The London version sounds even better.
Dearest Ginza
Anti-zen…. and when the two collide…. catastrophe!
Yours ever
The Perfumed Dandy
Thanks for all the lovely writing I’ve relished in 2013, and onward to another year of it!
Thanks FJ for everything.
What a beautiful wish. I wish you Peace, Love and Vintage Perfume.
Happy New Year! 🙂
Beautiful photo! Happy belated New Year to you both!
Thanks. It was a great evening, actually.
A very happy new year to you as well. And I am DELIGHTED, really happy, that Brie has resurfaced as well.
Wonderful! I have packages sitting in my apartment for you and Brie! Hurrah!
Really? The guilt, the guilt!
