Lots of my friends – Japanese, and foreigners who were living here at the time, have been posting quite moving and vivid things on Facebook today.
I thought this crumpled flyer from the time put up by my Italian friend Daniele Alfonsi was quite beautiful and simple.
The wave a symbol for strength outpouring but not overmastering, at the summit of crashing ….
Waves are so wonderful. They are the constant reminder that our earth is continually in motion and renewing itself.
It seems the wave is a very inspirational image throughout history in Japanese art. It shows the strong connection with the sea, one that is sometimes dangerous but oftentimes quite beneficial.
