I find this so calming and reassuring, Neil, this train. It looks like a saner place than much of the world right now, with everyone all nicely self-contained and no whiff of danger, of anything weird or volatile or threatening or antagonistic. Just people getting from one place to another. I never would have thought that this simple scene would seem so extraordinary.
Everyone always looks so exhausted on public transport in Japan. I just read that Japan ranks in the top ten in antidepressant and sleep meds.

I know what you mean actually. They may be a bit docile, the people here, but not constantly in angry revolt.
