The only one of those I’ve smelled is Plein Jeu, and I did enjoy it. For my softer incenses, I reach for Passage d’Enfer by L’Artisan Parfumeur, Città di Kyoto by Santa Maria Novella and Rêve d’Ossian by Oriza Legrand. Middle of the road is Heeley Eau Sacrée and Cardinal or Piguet Casbah. When I’m feeling austere, I reach for Arte Profumi Samharam or Masque Milano Mandala, which are quite dry and strident. Naomi Goodsir’s Bois d’Ascèse is another very smoky austere incense I enjoy. Lately I’m into palo santo, particularly Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s Be the Shaman.

    • I don’t know the Arte Profumi or the Masque; they sound intriguing. I think I have a sample of the DSH somewhere – I should dig it out. She does nice incense perfumes actually – there is one that smells PRECISELY like Indian Nag Champa but I can’t remember the name of it (she has so many!)

Oh, my god, I want to try all of these!!!!!

By the way, I’d love to know what you think of CdG Kyoto. Do they get it reasonably right? Ah, wait, I looked it up and found it. No, evidently they don’t. Pity. Well, it’s Duchaufour, so maybe no big surprise.
