Ah, my beloved Infini …. especially the pure parfum in the tiny asymmetrical bottle. It was my signature perfume for many years, from college onwards. So missed.
It is gorgeous.
And I found a parfum the other day for nothing.
But it had faded : I WANT THOSE TOP NOTES !
Absolutely! In my mind’s nose I can smell them – amazing. There’s nothing like the original Infini.
You know, if you are seriously feeling nostalgic for Infini, it is ubiquitous in Japan – must have been a megahit in the 70’s- and can be got as cheap as chips
Thank you – although I suspect that the British Customs/Mail officials might make it difficult or exorbitantly expensive for me to receive any eBay bargains! I still have a bottle of parfum hidden somewhere; I have not been able to find some of my stash since moving house. I really must get my act together and sort it out.
have a look at Japanese eBay etc

33 dollahs for a 7.5 !
From Israel. Probably get blown up along the way
Probably.
What a fucked up situation. I hate it.
My first exposure to Infini was this pdt from a flea market and so that particular balance of ingredients has always been my favori
I used to wear the pdt, with some dabs of the parfum on top so got a double whammy. It was heavenly. That was probably the fragrance that more people fell in love with after smelling it on me than any other!
How gorgeous to hear.
This means of course they still will: what state is your parfum in?
Not sure what state my parfum is in – have got to unearth it from the piles of clothes etc that I stuffed into the walk-in wardrobe on our move to this house! But it is very cool and dark in there, so my fingers are crossed that the Infini and various other treasures are holding up. Should point out that it wasn’t entirely laziness that stopped me tidying, I got hit with PMR and am battling that at the moment; I am so looking forward to feeling a bit more normal eventually and becoming organised!
Just had to check what PMR is – blimey, my sympathies – I have pains of my own but that sounds really horrible – I hope you get better quickly.
As for laziness, you are talking to the patron saint of slobs – a constant problem for me and d…..
Just re-analyzing the Infini I got the other day. It doesn’t have the hyacinth/narcissus green top notes, but it is still lovely. I have, for some reason, always associated it with the beach. There is something very ‘wide-scope’ open airish about it, despite it being a jam-packed woody floral aldehyde. In that sense, it definitely fits the concept.
It was an early love for me and at that time I really didn’t know anything about notes, I just adored the amazing fragrance. I had read a piece about it in a magazine that mentioned it contained tuberose and I thought that must be rose! Certainly I had a synaesthesic impression of pink with the green. Over the years I learnt that I was fond of aldehydes, and this must have been my introduction to that group. Still like them! Yes, PMR is not much fun, and the steroids have added their own charm. I would never imagine you to be lazy!
Hideously so. Just ask Duncan.
In fact, let’s repost this for thy potential amusement: https://theblacknarcissus.com/2020/04/30/a-total-lazy-fuck-sloth-by-zoologist-2020/
I honestly can’t imagine anything more lovely. I am going to my favourite florist this weekend and will park a little vase of them next to my bed. ❤

You have made me laugh on this cold, dark morning!
Happy to hear it. x
Narcissus already? Japan spoils you, N. One of my favourite notes of all time. And I love Infini. I see it in golds, yellows and white. Parfum, pdt on top is da bomb. It’s half proper, half scandalous, in that chic mild version of the scandals of its time. I think Doris Day, for some reason, could have pulled it off sensationally in her Pillow Talk days, even though it would be 11 years before it was released. A woman ahead of her time.
My mind is swimming deliciously reading this
Beautiful!
