Just watched Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Mother!’ again

(which my own mother HATED, possibly with good reason, though I think I kind of like it, as did Duncan and my sister)

Any thoughts?

Hated it. One of the worst messes I’ve ever seen. His Requiem For a Dream is one of the best films I have ever seen. I haven’t liked any of his others.

Hope you’re OK – gather the weather in Japan is fearsomely hot.

I loved “Mother” and am amazed that Aronofsky managed to get that film made — it’s truly an art film, and requires a lot of the viewer in terms of patience and open-mindedness. I think it’s a shame that so many people rejected the movie out of hand because undoubtedly Aronofsky will find it harder to get his movies made in the future. . .

    • I agree entirely.

I mean I didn’t love it like Black Swan ( but then again, how could I?), yet I did love its pure expression of whatever he wanted to express. I think it will get better and better with repeated viewings.

      Also, Michelle Pfeiffer !

Haven‘t heard from you for a long time. I hope all is well!

    • Yes. Thankyou. I actually do want to write something but monumentally, phenomenally busy finishing term and trying to get my first draft in by my first deadline. I feel like I have abandoned people on here but I can’t write anything.

I LOVE your writing though and appreciate your concern, so thankyou.

Do you think it would be ok to just do a quick, lightweight post after all this silence ?
